Computer Scrapbooks

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

When digital cameras were first released on the market, everyone was excited. Finally, here was an easy way to take and store photos. No more would our closets be plagued with boxes and envelopes housing a hodgepodge of unorganized photographs. What we didn’t realize was that soon, our computers would be filled with a hodgepodge of unorganized photographs.

The explosion of home computers and the Internet has led to an increased need for people to organize computer scrapbooks. It’s easy to accumulate literally thousands of digital pictures, and it’s just as easy to get them all mixed up. Try finding a favorite photo as you’re scanning through a list of numbers and letters. Creating computer scrapbooks makes it quick and easy to locate the photographs, as soon as you want to see them.

When preparing your computer scrapbooks, the first step should always be renaming your photos. You should use file names that are easy to understand and organize, rather than keeping the default names set by your digital photography software. Anyone who has used a digital camera or camera phone knows just how hard it can be to decipher the file names, let alone selecting the photographs. Proper titles listed in computer scrapbooks make it easy to remember which pictures you have.

One key point to remember is that all of your computer scrapbook files will be sorted in alphabetical order. This can get confusing, particularly if you’re naming pictures by date. Rather than call your photos ‘January10′, ‘April21′ etc, use the numerical format year, month and then day. Those same files will now be called 20050110Baby and 20050421Baby. In doing so, your computer will display them in the correct date order for you.

After your photo files have been renamed, you need to create folders to store the different types of photo files. Try organizing your computer scrapbooks by subject, theme or occasion. This will allow you to find your photos much easier later on. For example, create a folder called ‘Baby Pictures’ and save all of your baby photographs in that folder. By setting up and following a naming system, you’ll soon have the most well organized computer scrapbooks around.

Whether or not you print your digital photos, always create backups of all your computer scrapbook files. There are many archiving programs that can be used to compress large files, enabling them to be stored on a CD or other removable disk. It is essential that you label your CDs to keep your computer scrapbook backups as organized as the originals. You can write the title on the CD itself, but you should also remember to alter the name of the CD as read by the computer. Most CD writing software automatically prompts you to give the CD a title, but check the instructions before you start the burning process so you, and your computer, will be able to clearly identify the CDs.

Digital cameras make it easy to take and save pictures. Computer scrapbooks make it easy to find the pictures anytime you’re ready to take a trip down memory lane or share the digital images with your friends.

Affilliate Marketing For Dummies

Monday, May 28th, 2007

One of the most outstanding creations of the internet, is affiliate marketing. Only on the internet, and with affiliate marketing, can you get away with selling products which aren’t yours, not stressing yourself to deliver the said products, ignoring all the details concerning billing and cash matters, not having a care where after-sales service is concerned - and in spite of all of this, you still collect commissions worth thousands and yet remain free to roam the streets! Tell me: Where else can these happen?

Needless to mention; I know this sound great! Right? Well, let us see what the real picture is where affiliate marketing is concerned…

Affiliate marketing entails income sharing by the owner/creator of a product and you - the affiliate (or product promoter). This partnership creates an enabling environment for the merchant where he only pays for that advertisement/marketing, which produces a sale(s). On the other hand, the affiliate gains in percentage commissions on sales made through traffic that he sends the way of the merchant and on which he doesn’t have to bother with afterwards.

** How Will You Be Paid?
This is particularly dependent upon the type of affiliate program and how it is set up. This comes in two basic types: That which is operated independently by a merchant and that which the merchant employs the services of a third-party service provide to manage.

Either way, a software handles all the affiliate’s commission tracking. This is achieved by issuing each affiliate with a special unique URL, which he uses to send visitors/traffic to the merchant’s sales page. This software program then keeps perfect track of the sales which results through the affiliate link of each and every affiliate marketer and pays the commission accrued on a period-by-period basis through paypal, credit card, or checks.

** How Do You Select Products/Services?
The products or service which you choose and the figure in commission terms, will directly affect the kind of income you can expect to achieve. Therefore, extreme care is needed to ensure that you select a product or service that has the potential to bring you the kind of profit that will cover your expenses. Take particular care in choosing programs that you believe in, products/services you have used and that you like and those products you will not be ashamed of introducing your friends and family to.

Another thing worthy of note is choosing affiliate programs that offer training for their affiliates. Also, these come with already prepared and targeted graphics, text ads, solo ads, etc., etc which means that you won’t need to spend time creating your own.

Search for affiliate programs that have a commission payout percentage of not-less-than 50%. Also give a higher preference to affiliate programs having a residual income opportunity as this means that you get paid forever for a job done once!

Finally, affiliate marketing can be a highly lucrative online business. Having been around for a long time, we are just now getting to see the best coming out of the years of experience in internet affiliate marketing.

Take heed of the words above as you will need them to succeed as an affiliate marketer. Bye.

Creating Attractive Headlines

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

You have less than five seconds to capture the interest of your visitor. Unlike face to face sales where a prospect will stand poor salesmanship for etiquette sake, online the back button beckons. It is said people do not get bored in print. If a page does not deserve their attention they just flip over. Online, they click the back button; alternatively they go to the next link. When this happens, your chances of a conversion have just gone up in smokes, many times, for good.

With such a short yet critical time available to make an impression on your web visitors, effective headlines play a major role in getting results.

AIDAS, a common sales acronym that stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, Action and Satisfaction outlines key points in the sales process. The more visitors you can squeeze through this process the better your conversion rates. This far we know that prospecting involves grabbing the attention of a specific customer profile by using keywords. But as mentioned, the reason for prospecting is not just to increase web traffic, turning heads so to speak. Rather it is to successfully lead them through a persuasion process and make conversions; sales or otherwise. As such, in the short time you have a prospects attention you need to quickly turn it into interest. Gaining their interest allows you to engage them. Engagement means that the prospect is opening up for persuasion. The visitor will be thinking, let me see what they have to say.

An effective headline should be able to get attention and translate it into interest. This is done by creating a rapport. A rapport engages your prospect by harping on their immediate interest. You achieve perfect rapport when your headline identifies spot on with what your visitor is thinking when searching for the specific keyword.

For example, if a visitor is searching for a Samsung hands free accessory, the keywords “Samsung” and “hands-free” in headlines would demand their attention. The exact keyword phrase “Samsung hands-free” on the other hand would grab their attention in a snap. This is the power of keywords in a headline.

If the visitor was unsure of how exactly to go about choosing the best accessory, the headline “The Cheapest Samsung Hands-Free” may demand their attention but will only translate to reserved interest if there is no option. However the headline “How to choose the best Samsung Hand-Free” would resonate with the problem the visitor is trying to solve and consequently create a basis for a strong interest. Keywords and resonating headlines that allow engagement (rapport) create effective headlines.
